What is Neocities PageDuring the Cold War, the United States government wanted a way for computers to communicate. The Advanced Research Projects Agency (ARPA) funded a project to connect computers from universities to research institutions.
Tim Berners-Lee, a British scientist, invented the WWW at CERN (European Organization for Nuclear Research). You can experience the first website yourself with this link.
Lee then went on to create the first web server, web browser, HTML (the language of webpages), the URL (the unique addresses of webpages) and HTTP (the tech that lets web browsers and web servers talk to each other).
A network is a system of interconnected parts. One such system is the internet, which connects computers together.
In general, think of it as two types of computers, a server and a user.
A server hosts the website, the user consumes it.
